Whilst on a recent trip to Spain in the Summer, I went exploring with my camera to see what wildlife I could discover. There was a large expanse of undeveloped land behind the house I was staying in which I had named the Wasteland. The Wasteland was dry, sandy and any vegetation that was present had dried up. Much to my surprise, there was an abundance of dragonflies.
Dragonflies are fascinating creatures and seeing them up close in this way was an amazing experience. Unlike the dragonflies in the UK, you could get right up close to them and they wouldn’t mind. If anything, the dragonflies seemed curious as to who I was and what I was doing.
After taking a few photographs of each dragonfly; I was fascinated by their structure, the intricate details and vibrant colours that they each had. It then became my mission to see how many different species of dragonflies I could photograph. Whilst on my short vacation; I was able to capture 4 different species of dragonfly, each with their own unique colour. It was something I hope to experience again soon.
